Monocrystalline cells are made up of single-crystalline silicon and are quite easily recognizable by an external even colouring and uniform look, indicating high-purity silicon. Polycrystalline cells on the other hand are made up of multi-crystalline silicon, you can easily identify a Polycrystalline panel's look perfectly rectangular with no rounded edges.
Both types have pros and cons over each other. Mono panels have the highest efficiency rates since they are made up of the highest-grade silicon. Poly panels on the other hand have low efficiency but are cheaper in comparison to mono cells. Mono panels also lasts longer than the poly panels. Monocrystalline tend to perform better than similarly rated polycrystalline solar panels at low-light conditions. Monocrystalline are bit expensive than other kind of panels and that is one of the disadvantages. Polycrystalline material is slightly less efficient than monocrystalline panels, and therefore requires a slightly larger surface to produce the same amount of electricity.
